  In our body, the Immune Organ System (Immune System) is the body's defense mechanism against foreign organisms or substances and deviant native cells, including the humoral immune response and the cell-mediated response and consists of a complex of interrelated cellular, molecular, and genetic components. The Immune System signals the brain to activate immune system processes (immune processes).  In our body, the Immune Organ System which includes the lymphatic organ system is a network of specialized cells that recognize and protect our body from pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and any other foreign bodies that enter our body. *

“Immune System Concepts”  

Immune System

  In our body, the Immune System Concepts includes characteristic properties and processes involved in our immunity and our body's immune response with the key components being the thymus gland, lymph nodes, blood proteins known as immunoglobins, specialized white blood cells known as lymphocytes, the organs that produce these cells, and the blood vessels that transport them.

  Our body's Immune System is composed of highly specialized cells, proteins, tissues and organs located through out the body.

Our Immune System includes; spleen, thymus gland, tonsils, lymph nodes & ducts, the gut associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), bone marrow, white bloods cells and more. The Immune System response to a foreign invader involves the proliferation of lymphocytes - T and/or B cells. When their job is done, they must be removed leaving a small population of memory cells.

Our body's Immune System networks these components to keep us healthy by creating waves of responses mechanisms to fight off viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites and other foreign invaders keeping us healthy.
  Our body's Immune System is a complex one, whose chief function is to identify and eliminate destructive any foreign substance, such as harmful bacteria viruses and other foreign invader, before these substances damage our healthy cells that will cause a disease or illness.

Germs and other outside contaminants cause many bodily disorders, so strengthening the body's ability to fight against bacterial and/or viral infections helps repel the root of many diseases and aids in the body in the recuperation process. **

“Complement System”  

  In our body's immune system, the Complement System, important for cellular integrity and tissue homeostasis, is the body's biochemical defense system that kills microorganisms directly, supplements the inflammatory response, and works with, or complements, the immune system.
  In our body, the Complement System includes a set of approximately 30 different protein molecules found in the blood that can exhibit catalytic activity, function as regulators, or act as cellular surface receptors, which normally circulate in an inactive form, being activated by the classical, alternative, or lectin pathways.
  There are no cells in the Complement System, with an infection, this system of molecules is activated, leading to a sequence of events on the surface of the pathogen that helps destroy the pathogen and eliminate the infection. **

“Langerhan's Cells (Epidermal Dendritic Cells)”  

Langerhans Cells

  In our body's immune system, Langerhans Cells (Epidermal Dendritic Cells) are antigen-presenting dendritic cells found in the epidermis, that participate in the inflammatory response by engulfing microorganisms and releasing chemicals that mobilize immune system cells.
  In our body, Langerhan's Cells contain large granules called Birbeck granules. Langerhan's Cells are normally present in lymph nodes and other organs, including the stratum spinosum layer of the epidermis. **

“Phagocytes”  

  In our body, Phagocytes (phagocytic cells) are a type of white blood cells in our immune system that protect the body by ingesting (phagocytosis) harmful foreign particles, microorganisms, and dead or dying cells.
  In our body, the presence of hydrogen peroxide, myeloperoxidase will generate hypochlorous acid and singlet oxygen, a reaction that plays an important role in the killing of bacteria by our phagocytes.
