  In science, Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are chemically-reactive molecules or ions formed by the incomplete one-electron reduction of oxygen.
  Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) can form as a natural byproduct of the normal metabolism of oxygen and have important roles in cell signaling. Reactive oxygen species are highly reactive due to the presence of unpaired valence shell electrons. Examples of Reactive Oxygen Species include oxygen ions and peroxides.
